Nice Classification

Trademark Registration

The Nice Classification is a classification of goods and services to facilitate the registering of trade and service marks. The Nice Classification is based on a treaty administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) concluded in 1957 and open to states party to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property.

The purpose of the Nice Classification is to streamline the application for international trade and service marks by classify goods and services into, currently, 45 universally agreed to classes. Classes 1-34 handle goods and classes 34-45 are services. The classification system is specified by WIPO.
