Isle of Man Trademark Information

The Isle of Man, otherwise known simply as Mann, is a self-governing British Crown Dependency, located in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. The population is estimated at 80,000 with a GDP of $ 2.11 billion.

Part of the Norwegian Kingdom of the Hebrides until the 13th century when it was ceded to Scotland, the isle came under the British crown in 1765. Current concerns include reviving the almost extinct Manx Gaelic language. Isle of Man is a British crown dependency but is not part of the UK or of the European Union. However, the UK Government remains constitutionally responsible for its defense and international representation.

Trademarks are assigned through the Intellectual Property Office Information Centre. Isle of Man is a member of the Madrid Protocol and trademark registration and enforcement is controlled by the United Kingdom. A trademark is valid for 10 years and may be renewed for further periods of 10 years each.
