Cameroon, officially The Republic of Cameroon, is located in West Africa and is bordered by Nigeria to the west, Chad to the northeast, the Central African Republic to the east, and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo to the south. The population is estimate at 18,879,000 with a GDP of $42.78 billion.

The former French Cameroon and part of British Cameroon merged in 1961 to form the present country. Cameroon has generally enjoyed stability, which has permitted the development of agriculture, roads, and railways, as well as a petroleum industry. Despite slow movement toward democratic reform, political power remains firmly in the hands of President Paul BIYA.

Trademarks are assigned through Directorate of Technological Development and Industrial Property under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technological Development. Cameroon is a not member of the Madrid Protocol and is a member of OAPI. A trademark is valid for 10 years and may be renewed for further periods of 10 years each.
